Valentine's night, we went over the J/K's house for our traditional wings and friend pickles meal. We didn't spend the night even though it was tempting. My date was Bree Bree for valentines day 2014. We love those girls.

Valentine's Day 2014
Our Valentine's day was spent together but in a very odd way this year. I was off of school due to a snow day but B still had to work. I also needed to go to school since I could make it and don't have annual days to take off. So B came with me and said he would just work in my classroom. The Gillam's met us there too. Our kids ran around in the gym, with basketballs and footballs. It was a good way for them to tire out. We had lunch/snacks in my classroom to pass the time and headed home for naps. I didn't get much school work done, but we visited with people and I had a few minutes to clear up my clutter.

February Snow Days 2014
Just 2 weeks after the first week of snow days, we had another storm come through and bring 3 more days off from school. This was right before Valentine's day (Feb 12-14). Here are a few picture from our snow playing time. The kids would play, then cry because their hands were cold and wet. B tried a new technique of putting zip-lock bags around their gloves to just protect them from getting wet. I think they worked pretty good even though they were funny looking.
The snow started coming down Wednesday around lunch time. I took the kids to my school that morning so I could sign in. We stayed for 2 hours before leaving. I'm glad I went home at noon because the snow started and didn't stop until after it was dark. We had a blast and love family time.
Finally on Sunday, the weather warmed back up and our family took a walk Sunday afternoon. It included a walk around the pond. It was very nice getting outside with some warmth and sun.

Wes is potty trained!
Our son, Wes, is different than R & A. I mean, all my children are different in their own ways, but W is very different than R & A were at 2. Well basically then entire time he's been alive he's been louder, more independent, his own decision maker. W will do what W wants to do when W wants to do it. I feel very confident that later on in life, W won't give into the peer pressure of his surroundings. I love his strong will and the little boy that God has made him. Because of his strong will, he has been a cinch to potty train. My plan was to train him during spring break in March. But since we were on our second week of snow days, I felt like should try since I was certain I would lose my spring break. It only took like 2 days. Seriously. Once he had a couple of accidents (and really, only 2 or maybe 3), he was good. We started Thursday Feb 13th. I put him in underwear for the morning and he did great. He didn't have any accidents and he peed twice. He wore a diaper for naps, but then I didn't put him back in underwear because they were going outside to play in the snow. He didn't get underwear back on until Monday and the following Tuesday (2/18) he was good. His last accident he's had was that Tuesday 2/18. We don't even have to ask him. He tells us. Like I said, once W makes up his mind, he's good and we can't change it. He don't want to wear a pull-up for naps or nighttime, but we just pull his undies on top.
My motivate for potty training came a few weekends ago (2/8) when I hosted a Pull-Ups training pants party. I applied at House Party.com and was accepted for this one. It was fun (at least I thought so). Guests were mostly church friends, but Jenelle came with Ava and I was so excited for that. I think she had a good time. We made valentines for our families, played, ate lunch and had dessert. I took a group picture of all the kids holding up a pull-up and that's about it. I was most proud of my little potty dessert treats for the kids. I found it on Pinterest and they turned out cute.
It's safe to say I have 1 more kid in diapers now.

Aladdin Jr
Heritage High School was performing Aladdin Jr. and we knew a few of the performers. The lead, Princess Jasmine, was Gianna Q from CRF. Aladdin, was Drew, the older brother of one of my students and also goes to CRF. Aboo was played by Yeferline, a student I taught in 7th grade. We also know a few of the other characters from me teaching at WFMS and just from the Wake Forest community.
The show was awesome. We traded with the Gillams so we could take Lexi. We gave them Wes for the night. Lexi, Abe, and Rin all loved the show. It was very well down and the music was great. Because it was a Disney classic, a lot of little kids were there and some even dressed up in their princess outfits. I would recommend for anyone to go see a Heritage HS production. They plan to put on Grease in the spring and I definitely want B to take me to that one.

W is stubborn
So our third born child, Wes, is stubborn. He's what we like to call our 'strong willed' child. He's not a follower and very independent. So last Saturday we were eating cereal like we normally do and W asked for his second bowl (like R & A). This is normal behavior and sometimes they will eat 3 bowls of cereal if we'd let them.
But this particular morning, W asked for a second bowl but then didn't want to eat it. We don't waste a lot of food in our house especially if you ask for something. So he had to eat 2 bites, since he's 2 years old, before he could get down and play. I'm not sure why he decided to fight it, but he sat there for 30 minutes before making a move. I wasn't changing my position and I think he finally realized that. I tried to document this!

January snow week
Little did we know that the snow day would turn into 4 days. We had school Monday and then not again that week. It did snow finally Tuesday night and the roads were yucky Wednesday and Thursday. I'm not sure why school was cancelled again on Friday but there's nothing I can do about it. I've enjoyed the time home with my kids, even though Rin is ready to go back to school. I think she's bored. Here's a recap:
Tuesday school was closed with anticipating snow early afternoon. Things changed and it didn't start to snow until almost 8 pm. It pretty much snowed all night though. Tuesday I went to school for a few early hours and then we got PDQ for lunch. B was feeling a little under the weather so he stayed home and worked from home.
Wednesday we didn't go anywhere and we tried to play outside in the snow. B took the kids sledding in the street and down the yard but once they tried to make snow angels, it was all over. They all 3 got so cold that their hands and feet started hurting. We came in to warm baths for the 3 bigs to help thaw them out. If only we had come inside 10 minutes earlier, I think we could have avoided tears. They went outside again after naps but it still ended in tears. We braved the streets to get a hot & ready pizza because I was too tired to cook (even thought I didn't work).
Thursday was another snow day but I took the kids into the school with me for a few hours. I was able to grade some papers and put grades in while they colored and watched a show. E took a nap in her stroller. It was good to get out of the house. After that we headed back to for rest before gymnastic class. At least gymnastics wasn't cancelled and R & A were ready for class. W sat with us playing on B's phone and E crawled around.
Friday, the fourth snow day of the week is another lazy day. I had all these plans to get errands run and things done but then A got sick. When I say sick, he puked in the van. It was gross and I wish it wouldn't have happened but with 4 kids, we are bound to get some throw up in a vehicle sometime. He's just drinking Gatorade (from Ms. Kristen) and laying around on the sofa. But now we have 4 days we have to make up. I went in for 2 of the 4 and Friday's snow day I will use as a sick day since A is really sick.
Funny story though: Wednesday night we made 'snow cream' and it was pretty good. Rin excitedly said "Thanks God for snow" and it was awesome. Yes, thank God!
